GE Centricity Group Management users can now comply with the Red Flag rule by capturing, retrieving and storing Patient Photos right at the front desk using this PhotoCapture add-on

PhotoCapture is a GE Centricity Group Management (GPMS) add-on developed in collaboration with EHR  Integration  Services and Global Network Systems. This add-on addresses the Red Flag rule, which requires practice management applications to have a patient photo ID verification process in place as part of their front desk registration workflow.   PhotoCapture inserts patient photo capability right in the Centricity workflow. It also integrates with the photo capability in Allscripts Enterprise EHR.

As a stand-alone solution for GE Centricity Group Management users:  For each patient, the PhotoCapture add-on application places a Patient Photo section onto both the Patient Demographic and the Appointment Detail screens. As part of the front desk registration process, the user clicks on the Save/Capture button and a webcam captures the new patient photo and stores it on a dedicated SQL database. For existing patients who already have photos on file, photos are automatically retrieved from the database and displayed. The user verifies the patient’s identity and updates the photo, as needed.

As an integrated solution for GE Centricity Group Management/Allscripts Enterprise EHR users:  Allscripts Enterprise EHR has photo capability that manages patient photos on the Enterprise database. To take advantage of this built in capability, the front desk registration experiences the same Group Management user interface as described above, except the actual patient photos are stored, retrieved, and updated directly from the Enterprise database. This ensures that patient photos are managed in one single location. It also eliminates having to toggle between the two applications.
